Why don't we send small magnets by letter?

We are constantly receiving enquiries by phone and email asking why we don't send small quantities of magnets by letter. This would be more environmentally friendly and cheaper at the same time.
We have enquired about this several times with Deutsche Post and received a rejection each time. The probability that even the smallest magnets will still exert a magnetic holding force through the envelope and then get caught in sorting systems is simply too great. On the one hand, this would lead to damage to the equipment and, on the other hand, consignments would constantly be lost. So please understand that this is not an option for us. How do we choose our parcel size?

We frequently receive emails with comments about very large outer packaging. However, we have to ensure that the magnetic holding force outside the parcel is as low as possible for all shipments. Depending on the size or holding force of the magnets, a distance of up to approx. 40cm between the magnet and each side of the packaging is necessary. Unfortunately, this sometimes results in very large parcels. This means that when shipping magnets, a much larger package is generally required than you would expect for shipments of fashion items, for example.
 

Which filling material do we use for our shipments?

In order to protect the environment, we only buy protective paper to cushion our magnets in the parcels with filling material. For very strong magnets, which have a holding force of several hundred kilograms, or for very heavy shipments, you may also find polystyrene in the shipments for better padding. In this case, we only use packaging material that we receive from other consignments and can therefore reuse.
