Caution: Neodymium magnetic tape is not a magnetic tape that attracts each other. It is magnetised differently to classic magnetic tapes and repels each other when longer pieces are placed on top of each other, as the pole width is not always exactly the same.

Is magnetic foil suitable as a counterpart to magnets?

The poles of magnetic sheets are not unidirectional, but usually strip-shaped, as in most cases the magnetisation is anisotropic. For this reason, magnetic foil is unsuitable for applying magnets. Magnetic foil may also lose its magnetisation if a neodymium magnet is attached to it. For this reason, we recommend using either 

• a ferrous tape / metal tape or 
• magnetic tape
